The School for Seniors Ukulele Group is in its sixth year, starting first term 2011. Over 60 aspiring musicians have passed through the ukulele class including 26 registered in 2016. We provide tuition for those new to the instrument and a chance to join with others in singing and playing our favourite songs on a weekly basis. We are especially motivated when there is a chance to play to an audience. This includes 3 or 4 visits a year to nursing homes, playing most years at the School for Seniors annual luncheon, and most recently as one of the guest artists at the Meander Valley Choir's annual variety concert at Westbury. In August 2016 we recorded the group playing and singing "An Aussie Backyard Garden" to the tune of An English Country Garden and sent it to the ABC to be played as the theme song for Peter Cundall's Gardening Talkback. It was played on air on Saturday 10th September. It may well be repeated. The recording is attached. Also attached are recordings of Ukulele Lady and Marvellous Toy which were two of the three songs we did at Westbury and a photo of the group at Aldersgate Village in August.
